AssetWise System Management Console Help

To Enable Persons To Be Created Automatically Upon Login

  1. In the Explorer pane, expand the Communities node.
  2. Expand your community and select the Active Directory node.
  3. In the content pane, select the Auto Create Users tab.
  4. Turn on Auto Create Users at Logon.
  5. From the Create from Template list, select the person template you want AssetWise to use when auto-creating persons in this community.

The list shows all approved person templates in this community. If the list is empty, you need to create at least one person template, and approve it, in AssetWise Director. See Creating a Person Template in AssetWise Director for details. Once a template is created, return here and select it from the list.

  6. Configure the User Criteria section to let AssetWise know which Active Directory users are allowed to access this community.

The easiest way to do this is to create a group in Active Directory for AssetWise purposes, add the users you want to the group, then return here and click Browse and Add groups and select your group from the list.

    or

If you prefer to use Active Directory attributes to select which users can access AssetWise, select an attribute from the Attribute list, then confirm a relation and value. You can build a combination of relationships with AND / OR clauses.

  7. Select the Mapping tab.

The Mapping tab lets you select which Active Directory attributes you want to map to AssetWise person attributes.

  8. For each AssetWise attribute you want mapped, select an Active Directory attribute from the list to the right of the corresponding AssetWise attribute name.

    Required person attributes are:

    Person Code

Surname (same as Last Name in other AssetWise interfaces)

    Initials

Once person attributes are mapped here, they will be populated with the corresponding values from Active Directory whenever AssetWise automatically creates persons in this community.

For the non-required attributes, you can leave the attribute blank (unmapped) if you do not want it to be populated with values from Active Directory.

If the Initials field is left blank, the attribute will be populated with the first letter of the name in the First Name field.

The configuration is complete. From this point on, when a user who does not already have an account in this community attempts to log in to it, the Active Directory integration will check if the user is included in one of the groups listed in the User Criteria section (step 6). If so, a person will automatically be created in the community for that user.
